Branch Manager

Position Summary

The Branch Manager is responsible for performing and/or overseeing all operations and activities for the branch.  The Branch Manager has support from functional areas within the Alexandria headquarters and will collaborate with the appropriate departments to maintain consistency and process conformance.  Duties and processes include sales, project planning, project management, installation, field service, purchasing, inventory management, fleet management, facility management, human resources, and supervision.  This position works directly with customers.  The Branch Manager is responsible for the business unit profit plan.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure Company policies are followed by team members, including safety and OSHA 10 policies.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, specifically EPA licenses.
  • Proactively manage customer relationships, including visits.
  • Identify the root cause of issues and provide corrective action.
  • Ensure customers’ issues are satisfactorily resolved.
  • Assist in managing Work in Process (WIP) and Accounts Receivables aging to optimize customer experience, cash flow, and department financial performance.
  • Assist in payment collection of past due invoices – Manage open issues.
  • Provide input into the branch’s budget and service offerings.
  • Develop, track, and report on department metrics regularly.
  • Responsible for the branch P&L.
  • Responds to rapidly changing customer needs.
  • Provide input into strategic initiatives to improve customer experience and grow the customer base.
  • Coordinate with Service Operations to manage field service work.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and personnel-related duties.
  • Coordinate with Business Development as needed.
  • Request purchase orders and orders materials. Oversee materials receiving and staging.
  • Collaborate with the Materials department and follow inventory management processes.
  • Respond to scheduled sales calls, estimate, and writes proposals. Follow all sales processes and recordkeeping.
  • Project manage projects for the branch.
  • Create project take-offs.
  • Schedule employees, resources, and subcontractors.
  • May need to perform work occasionally.
  • Develop and enforce standards of work and workmanship.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Stay current on codes, municipal regulations methods, technology, tools, and equipment offerings.
  • Represent the Company in community, academic, or professional events.
  • Adhere to and enforce company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized branch.

Required Education and Experience

  • Business Acumen
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Experience within the construction field
  • Project management or Management experience.
  • Experience with electromechanical equipment
  • Effective customer relations
  • Effective computer skills, MS Office
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Equipment operation (scissors lifts, forklift, mini excavators, skid loaders and etc.).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience/knowledge with Commercial MEP trade
  • Experience/knowledge with Residential MEP trade
  • Experience/knowledge with MEP service and repair work
  • College degree in a business-related field
  • College degree or diploma in a construction-related field
  • College degree in an engineering-related field
  • Licensed Tradesman
